We developed a robust Make.com workflow that intelligently processes .ics files from detection to cleanup. The system monitors a dedicated Google Drive folder, parses iCalendar files using JavaScript, converts them to structured JSON events, and creates calendar entries with intelligent duplicate prevention. The workflow ensures atomic processing—each file is processed exactly once with complete error isolation, preventing cascading failures and maintaining data integrity throughout the pipeline.
The workflow features intelligent duplicate protection at both file and event levels. Using Make.com Data Store, the system prevents double processing of the same file by checking file IDs before processing. For events, it performs intelligent matching based on start time, end time, summary, and description. If duplicates are detected, the system sends alerts and skips creation, ensuring a clean calendar without redundant entries.
